Faraday Pharmaceuticals® Involved in Important Publication Exploring Iodine Redistribution During Trauma, Sepsis, and Hibernation

October 2020, Seattle – Faraday Pharmaceuticals® contributed to research recently published that analyzed the role of iodine redistribution during trauma, sepsis, and hibernation. The research study results, published in the peer-reviewed journal Critical Care Explorations, demonstrate mammals increase endogenous blood iodide levels in response to significant physiological stress such as severe blunt trauma or sepsis in humans, as well as hibernation in artic ground squirrels.  The publication concludes this iodide redistribution enables organisms to better tolerate stress, leading to improved outcomes after injury, and that iodide administration as a therapeutic intervention may be beneficial for human patients.  Dr. Mark Roth, the senior author on the publication, is a co-founder of Faraday.
